The Grant of A Licence
If the Department decides to grant you a Road Service Licence you will be advised by letter and asked to send the appropriate fee. A licence costs £78.00 per vehicle at present and is normally valid for a period of one year. The licence will state the type (National or International), the specified operating centre, the nominated Transport Manager (if applicable), the vehicles licensed, the type(s) of services and routes licensed and any other conditions which may be attached to the licence by the Department.
- If during the course of the year you wish to apply for an additional vehicle to be included on your licence a supplement sheet (RSL2) must be completed and forwarded to the Department together with copies of current Tax and Northern Ireland PSV discs, driver's category D or full D1 Driving Licence, insurance documents and relevant fees (£6.50 per month). If you are a newly licensed operator you may be required to provide evidence of additional finance.
- If during the course of a year you wish to apply for an additional service/route to be included on your licence a supplement sheet (RSL2) must be completed and forwarded to the Department, for consideration.
- If you hold an International Road Service Licence you will be provided with Community Licences for each vehicle licensed. These documents are very important and one must be retained in each vehicle that you use for international journeys. Failure to produce this document may lead to prosecution by other authorities within the European Community.
