What Happens When The Department Makes Its Decision?

1. If the Department grants a licence, you will be advised and asked to pay the fee. The Licence (RFL 2) will show:

  1. type of Licence
  2. the operating centre
  3. the business premises
  4. the Transport Manager's address and name
  5. any conditions which may be included on the Licence
  6. expiry date of licence

2. You will also be sent an application form for a Road Freight Vehicle Licence (one for each vehicle). Once this has been granted you will receive a vehicle disc which will show:

  1. the operator's name and licence number
  2. the vehicle registration mark
  3. the Licence expiry date
  4. the type of Licence

The vehicle disc must be displayed on the windscreen of the vehicle to which it belongs - it may not be used on any other vehicle. The discs are colour coded as follows:

(1) Blue - National Licence.

(2) Green - International Licence.

3. If you lose your Licence or a vehicle disc, the Department must be told in writing.

If the Department is satisfied with your explanation a replacement will be issued.

Where the writing on the disc has faded, you can get a replacement from the Department by returning the old disc with details of your Licence number and the vehicle registration mark.
