How Much do I Pay for A Licence And How Long Will It Last?

The present fee for a Road Freight Operator's Licence is £150 and lasts for 5 years.

The present fee for a Road Freight Vehicle Licence is £60 and it lasts for 1 year.

Provided an application for a new Road Freight Operator's Licence is made before the old Licence runs out, the old one will stay in force, whatever its expiry date, until a decision on your application is made.

To help you, the Department will normally send out a reminder and an application form about 2 months before the old Licence expires.

If, however, you do not apply for a new Licence before your old Licence runs out, you cannot continue to use it and are therefore unlicensed from its expiry date. In such circumstances you should apply for a new licence immediately.
