What Are The Professional Competence Requirements?
Professional competence is established by:
- Passing the examinations for a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) set by the OCR Examination Board (formerly the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) acting as agents for the Department of Transport. There is a National examination which meets the requirements for a standard National licence and an additional examination for a standard International Licence. There are no academic entry requirements for the examination.
- Holding a Certificate issued by the Department stating that the holder has practical experience in Road Haulage (Departmental Competence). If you do not hold such a Certificate, you cannot now claim one.
- Holding certain Diplomas and qualifications from Professional Institutes. (see other Recognised Qualifications listed at Appendix B)
- As proof of Professional Competence you must submit Original RSA/OCR Certificates, Institute membership cards/certificates or any other recognised qualification. These will be returned to you promptly.
