Motorcycles, Scooters and Mopeds
If you are learning to ride a moped or motorcycle, you cannot carry a pillion passenger.
Mopeds
A moped is a motorcycle which:
- cannot go faster than 50km/h
- must not have an engine over 50cc
- if first used before 1 September 1978, it must also be equipped with pedals by which it can be propelled.
Motorcycles
If you have a provisional motorcycle licence or a full car licence you may ride motorcycles up to 125cc and 11 kw power output, with L plates on public roads.
