Resident In Spain
We cannot issue you with a NI licence as you have declared that you are now resident abroad and that your NI licence was surrendered in exchange for one from another country.
This would mean that two licences would be held. In addition Northern Ireland legislation requires that applicants for a licence must surrender any licence held if it is one from another country whose licence we exchange.
This would include the Spanish licence you hold. You may drive in Northern Ireland providing you hold a valid EC/EEA licence. If you decide to return to live in the country, you may however, wish to exchange your EC/EEA licence for a Northern Ireland licence using application form DL1 (available from most Post Offices, Local Vehicle Licensing Offices or directly from DVLNI by calling 0845 402 4000.
