The Road Traffic (Driving Disqualifications) (Northern Ireland) Order 2003

The Road Traffic (Driving Disqualifications) (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 will affect you if you are disqualified on or after 11th October 2004. This means that any driving disqualifications, which are imposed, either in GB or Northern Ireland shall be recognised throughout the UK. Northern Ireland authorities shall have the right to endorse driving licences issued by the DVLA, and Great Britain authorities the right to endorse licences by DVLNI.

This will be made possible by the issue of a 2nd Counterpart, for endorsement purposes, by the country that imposes the penalty points. This will provide access for Northern Ireland/ Great Britain driving licence holders to both fixed penalty points systems.

From 11th October 2004, Northern Ireland and Great Britain authorities shall also have the power to revoke driving licences issued by the other authority.
