Personal Import - Acceptable Documentation

In order to prove that a vehicle is a Personal Import the keeper must provide evidence that he or she has:

  1. Lived outside the United Kingdom for at least 12 months, for example:
    • utility bill (electricity, telephone, gas);
    • rent book;
    • Bank or Building Society statement
    • Notification of tax coding
    • C&E 386 or C&E 388 (for Non-EU Countries).

And

  1. Been in possession of their vehicle outside the United Kingdom for at least six months. To prove 6 months’ possession one or more of the following must be shown:
    • Vehicle registration document
    • Vehicle licensing reminder
    • Other documents showing vehicle particulars may be submitted for consideration.
