Methods Of Payment

  • Cheque or postal order, made payable to Driver and Vehicle Licensing (NI). If a cheque, given as payment for a vehicle licence is dishonoured, the licence will be void from the date of issue and the vehicle will be unlicensed.
  • If renewing your Tax in a Post Office® Branch, cheques should be made payable to Post Office Ltd.
  • Post Office Saving Stamps - These can be used to buy your car tax at Vehicle Licensing issuing Post Office® Branches.
  • Vehicle licence stamps should be sent by registered post to DVLNI. (As of 31 March 2005 these stamps have been withdrawn from sale)

    Any vehicle licensing stamps that have been purchased can still be used.

  • Cash should be sent by registered post. If renewing your Tax at a Local Office, you can pay by Debit card (not a credit card)
  • You can re-licence your vehicle by telephone if you have received a V11(NI) renewal form
    • Your vehicle must not need a Test Certificate
    • Your vehicle must be currently insured
    • You can pay by Debit Card i.e. Switch or Delta (not a credit card)
